Ardvreck.1

This is a view of the ruins of Ardvreck Castle, which is on Loch Assynt, in the North Highlands (Sutherland, to be precise) of Scotland. Although the original castle was much larger, it is easy to see where pillagers have taken the stones from the old castle walls to make new dwellings. The valley here is very beautiful, stretching out to the north-west, and at the time that we visited, the entire landscape was hidden under a solid ten inches of snow.

I must also apologise about the quality of the photograph – it was taken with a very cheap ND400, which I now know has really patchy shadiness! Oh well, we live and learn.
